Partridge Pigeon Umbrawarra Gorge Rd
As you turn off the main road onto the Umbrawarra Gorge rd which leads to Copperfield dam, you will cross two low dips/causeways. At the second causeway, park the car and walk to the right of the causeway and at this time of year you'll find some dryed up little waterhole areas. The bush and trees on the right side, next to the narrow/shallow creek bed had Partridge pigeons x5 walking amongst the leaf litter, and at times sitting in the trees...rather well camouflaged.

Hooded Parrot Pine Creek township N.T
40+ Hooded Parrots were observed in the trees at the mining camp car park area, opposite the railway museum. The gravel/dirt carpark borders the footy oval as you head down the main terrace r.d. They were in the trees being very vocal from 6pm till dark. I returned the next morning at 6am to see if they were still there, they were....and more and more would fly in and join the others. Feeding on the ground/grass and sitting in the tree's and on powerlines and signs, and on the edge of the roadside and being very vocal. By 7am they all started flying off into the bush next to the mining camp.

Sat 22 Sep White-throated Grasswren Jim Jim Falls area, Kakadu
An extensive (and exhausting) search for White-throated Grasswrens was rewarded with sightings at two locations in Jim Jim Falls area of Kakadu. The birds appeared to be confined to very specific patches of habitat characterised by mature Triodia and mid-level vegetation. Chestnut-quilled Rock-igeon, Partridge Pigeon, Banded Fruit-dove, Sandstone Shrikethrush, White-lined Honeyeater, Helmeted Friarbird and Variegated Fairywrens (Lavender-flanked ssp) all present. Note, a research permit is required to acsess this area.
