Horsfield's Bushlark, Brown Songlark
Elster Creek, Elwood, Victoria
Possibly 60 Horsfield's Bushlark were foraging with at least 4 Brown Songlark on the Elwood foreshore (mostly around the public toilets) and further upstream on the Elsternwick Golf Course. Horsfield's Bushlark is a new species for the City of Port Phillip. [Moderators note: please note that 60 Horsfield's Bushlark and 4 Brown Songlark would be unprecedented - it would be useful if other birders could visit the site for verification. ]

White-throated Grasswren
Jim Jim Falls area, Kakadu, Northern Territory
An extensive (and exhausting) search for White-throated Grasswrens was rewarded with sightings at two locations in Jim Jim Falls area of Kakadu. The birds appeared to be confined to very specific patches of habitat characterised by mature Triodia and mid-level vegetation. Chestnut-quilled Rock-igeon, Partridge Pigeon, Banded Fruit-dove, Sandstone Shrikethrush, White-lined Honeyeater, Helmeted Friarbird and Variegated Fairywrens (Lavender-flanked ssp) all present. Note, a research permit is required to acsess this area.
