Peregrine Falcon
Adelaide Road, Gawler South
Alerted to the presence of a single male Peregrine flying flat, low and fast, tracking south directly above Adelaide Road by the usual chorous of alarm calls given as he flew by!

Black-tailed Godwit, Fairy Tern
Cheetham Saltworks, St Kilda
Black-tailed Godwit (10) A couple of birds in almost complete breeding plumage. Roosting on spit with pelicans and bar-tailed godwits.
Fairy Tern (approx. 80) Present in centre of location. Another group of roughly 60 birds also seen -not sure as to whether same group or not, despite larger number recorded here.

Long-billed Corella
Torrens Linear park - Hills end
Feeding in large old walnut trees at eastern most carpark on Highbury side, as they do every year about this time. Used to see much larger groups of LBCs a few years ago, but these same four we saw last year .. although they normally wait for fruit to ripen.

Square-tailed Kite, Peregrine Falcon
Altona CSR Landcare Reserve
Square-tailed Kite (1) First seen soaring low over main track, 100m north of entrance, and then circled quite low for at least 5 minutes above and around the parking area.
Peregrine Falcon (2) Possibly 3. One bird seen off of Blue Loop; about 10 minutes later a pair of birds was seen 100m in from entrance.

Lesser Sand Plover, Greater Sand Plover, Great Knot, Fairy Tern
Thompson Beach
Lesser Sand Plover (3) out on rocks exposed by falling tide - way off of central beach during late morning. One in partial breeding plumage.
Greater Sand Plover (2) As per LSP's -one bird in partial breeding plumage.
Great Knot (7) Some nicely coloured birds sighted; very thinly distributed among the Red Knots - may have been more about but difficult to count given vast area Knots were feeding across.
Fairy Tern (42) two groups (10 and 32) 10 on far southern beach on sandbar among feeding Knots and Godwits. 32 on central beach during late morning. Hunkered down among exposed rocks way off of shore. 11 juvenile birds observed.

Little Eagle
Gregor Rd, Sheoak Log
One bird riding a thermal above road, getting mobbed by five magpies. Last saw one in this area about 5yrs ago -good to see one back!
