Birdline Western Australia

Published sightings for the week ending 29 Jan 2012.

Mon 23 Jan Intermediate Egret, Glossy Ibis, Variegated Fairy Wren, Red-necked Avocet Lake Joondalup, Western Australia
Bird numbers continue to increase and this afternoon there were 2,000-3,000 Black-winged Stilt, 30-50 Red-necked Avocet, 10-20 Greenshank and 600+ Silver Gull. There are also still thousands of ducks (Hardhead numbers appeared to be down today though) and the Glossy Ibis and Intermediate Egret are also still present. I found viewing to be best from the bench in the paperbarks between Neil Hawkins Park and Picnic Cove. There's also a family of Variegated Fairy Wren there too. To see the Intermediate Egret you still have to go to Picnic Cove, it's nearly always on the grassy island.
