Have had a good week of owl watching on the Sunshine Coast with visiting interstate and overseas birders. Good flying views of Eastern Grass Owl at Marcoola on Mon.at dusk, followed by perched Plumed (Marbled) Frogmouth at Mapleton later in night. Thursday night heard both Boobook and Tawny Frogmouth from home, plus a single tyto screech . Highlight of week was finding a roosting Sooty Owl at Mary Cairncross Park, high-up in a picabeen palm, with pellets below containing small rodent skulls.Later in day saw two newly fledged Tawny Frogmouth chicks with an adult in back yard of friend's house in town.
