Location: Pengelly Scrub, Roseworthy
Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) (7) Feeding in flock on floor of woodland.
White-browed Woodswallow (Artamus superciliosus) (25) Feeding within the
reserve and in the skies over the reserve. May have been more -hard to keep a
tab on them as the wind was blowing a gale.
Painted Button-quail (Turnix varius) (1) Bird heard ooooming in north-western
corner of reserve and shortly after flew to the north, north-east when it was
flushed.
Also several Elegant Parrot (>15) were present in the site and flying over
during the morning. I thought I had heard and seen Blue-winged Parrot also, but
this could not be confirmed at the time. Since then, another observer has
confirmed the presence of this latter species, as well as Cockatiel.

Location: Arbury Park, Bridgewater SA
White-necked Heron (Ardea pacifica) (1) Whilst participating in the Nature
Foundation SA "Walk for Nature" last weekend, saw a juvenile White Backed Heron
on the edge of a creek, with a very large blue yabby in it's beak. It took
several minutes for the bird to subdue and devour its prickly meal - which it
did by breaking it into chunks and gulping these down. Great photo opportunity,
but no camera with me of course!
On this walk also saw a number of Red browed finches, a white naped honeyeater
on its nest, groups of yellow tailed black cockatoos, white throated
treecreepers, superb blue wrens.

reserve off Magazine Road. Several were in breeding plumage.

of pool bordered by Alexandrina Drive and Clayton Street.
Nankeen Night Heron (Nycticorax caledonicus) (1) An adult in breeding plumage
in Strap Weed at eastern end of pool.

Location: On our property at Rockleigh
Rainbow Bee-eater (Merops ornatus) (2) Bee-eaters have been seen recently at
Brown's Road which is only 10km from our property, so it was not surprising to
see them. They were busy catching insects
Barn Owl (Tyto alba) (1) The barn owl was flushed from a leafy eucalypt in the
creek bed, about 300 metres from where it was flushed last week. It flew into
the top of another leafy eucalypt and a dozen welcome swallows went to inspect
it. It flew to a dead tree, and a kestrel turned up to have a look. Then a
magpie landed next to it and very noisily told it to get going, which it did.

Location: Greenfields Wetlands, Magazine Road
Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) (50+) The flock reported by Michael Wood has
grown. A couple of groups of up to 8 birds could be seen from the path. On
two occasions, a flock of 50 birds or more took flight from the north-eastern
corner; at 13:10, 45 birds gained height, formed an organised skein, and flew
off to the north-east, while a few birds remained in the wetland.
Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata) (20+) Numbers of sandpipers are
increasing.
Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola) (5)
Marsh Sandpiper (Tringa stagnatilis) (1)
Common Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) (1)
Curlew Sandpiper (Calidris ferruginea) (1)

Location: Blackhill C P
Chestnut-rumped Hylacola (Hylacola pyrrhopygia) (3) 3 birds were seen at a
distance of 2 meters by the main summit trail 200 meters past the old quarry.
Wedge-tailed Eagle (Aquila audax) (1) The wedge tailed eagle was soaring above
the lower ridges and slowly moving northwards.

Brown Quail (Coturnix ypsilophora) (2) Birds were at the side of the road just
before Beacon 19 car park.
Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata) (3) Birds were on the channel edge
near Beacon 19.
