Location: Glen Osmond (near Sunnyside Road)
Barking Owl (Ninox connivens) (1) Heard a series of terrible screams coming a
tree at the rear of my house late at night. After I did a search for 'scream'
and 'bird' and 'Adelaide' on the internet, I suspect it was a barking owl.
Southern boobooks are common in the area but it did not sound like one of them.

Location: Goolwa effluent ponds
Buff-banded Rail (Gallirallus philippensis) (1) Observed from new bird hide.
Seen on margine of reeds main pond on Right hand side looking from hide.
Australian Spotted Crake (Porzana fluminea) (1) Same area as Buff-banded Rail
Black-fronted Dotterel (Elseyornis melanops) (12) Birds were to found on the
margines of all ponds. Goolwa Ponds have been re. landscaped,new ponds,new
roads,new bird hide and native trees and shrubs planted. I observed 27 species
in 55 mins. Alexandrena council is to consider changing the ponds name to
Hassel Road wet lands. The ponds are well worth a visit and can only get better
as the new plantings mature.

Location: Morialta Falls Walking Track
Beautiful Firetail (Stagonopleura bella) (1) A single bird sitting in a bush
near the track associating with Red-browed Finch (Neochmia temporalis) and
Silvereye (Zosterops lateralis) between falls 1 and 2.

Barbary Dove (Streptopelia roseogrisea) (2) Upto three birds have regularly
appeared in my back garden over the last couple weeks. Only two were seen this
morning.

Location: South Boundary Road, 850m north of junction with McAnaney Road, Boggy
Lake, near Tolderol
Red-necked Avocet (Recurvirostra novaehollandiae) (6) Six Red-necked Avocet,
together with 20 Black-winged Stilt and three Australian Shelduck in flooded
saltpan to the east of South Boundary Road.
The Avocet were one of fifty-five species seen during afternoon visit by B & M
Snell and K & L Williams to Tolderol Game Reserve and Boggy Lake. The best that
Tolderol had to offer was a large flock (30+) of White-fronted Chat, and a
group of Golden-headed Cisticola showing well along the 'causeway' out to the
picnic area.

Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) (1) At the south-eastern end of the open
flat area with a barbeque opposite the zoo, east of Frome Road on the north
bank of the river.
