Mon 21 Mar White-throated Nightjar Lamb Range, Wet Tropics, Far Nth Qld
On an extended spotlighting trip last night up into the Lamb Range along Davies Ck Rd, & later on along Tinaroo Ck Rd, the following highlights were recorded: 4 White-throated Nightjars, 2 Owlet-nightjars, 2 Southern Boobooks (not race 'lurida'), & 1 Eastern Barn Owl. Also, on a non-birding front, a single Northern Bettong was seen well, scurrying up the rd in front of us on Tinaroo Ck Rd, well past the Emerald Falls t/off. Maybe the White-throated Nightjars are here on passage, but I doubt this, since these individuals were seen very close by to where these birds were seen at last year's end, so quite probably they are the same birds. The White-throated Nightjars allowed a very close approach whilst sitting on the road, but no half decent images were taken - but it was very nice to see them up-close.

Little Bittern Tyto Wetlands
Little Bittern in typical short low flight 10.38 today from scleria near lookout across 30m open lagoon and straight into more scleria. Rather plainly marked so probably female. Encouraging sighting given the ravages of Yasi and severe floods since. Also, Black Bittern, multiple recent sightings.

Sun 20 Mar Spotless Crake Southern approach to Bushy Creek Julatten
The bird was standing/feeding in a pond of water on the side of the road. It seemed undisturbed by the traffic.
Greg Bortolussi

Restless Flycatcher, Brown Cukoo Dive, Oriental Cockoo and Pied Currawong Southern end Ross River Dam Wall
The birds were among the 55 species seen by partricpants on the TRBOC organised monthly walk in this area. The species reported here are all uncommon in this area.
