Garden in Gulliver, Townsville
Found dead on my deck in the middle of the day. Must have flown into a window. Another bird probably displaced by cyclone Yasi.

Hawking for food in loose flock. Unusual sighting here in residential area, above home back yard. 0920hrs. No approaching weather front. (30).

Wompoo Pigeon and Superb Fruit Dove
Reed Beds Road, Giru Qld
Townsville Region Bird Observers Club end of the month outing. Both species were seen in the small melaleuca and palm forest at the southern end of Reed Beds Road, Giru (Google Earth 19 30 31.08S, 147 03 13.28E). Uncommon at this location and probably here as a result of Cyclone Yasi

Spinifexbird
Mt Walker, 10km S of Hughenden
On Friday, 2 parties of Spinifexbirds were recorded on the summit plateau of Mt Walker, an earlier reported isolated population of this species. Moving about on the stony ground between clumps of spinifex, it can be easily appreciated that this species was initially identified here last year by some observers as Striated Grasswren. I did search for some grasswrens there but there wasn't any present.

May have been a blow in from cyclone Yasi; it was flying across the road in the middle of the common.
