I have just added this information to the Bird-O page for this unconfirmed
report (http://birdo.wildiaries.com/trips/10446):

Local birder Laurie Knight is seeking a second opinion on a bird found at
Manly, on Moreton Bay near Brisbane, that could possibly be a SIPO.

Please note:

The images currently available are NOT SUFFICIENT to confirm identification,
one way or the other. SIPO cannot be reliably identified on rump pattern
alone.SIPO cannot be reliably identified based on wing bar extent.
The only way to reliably identify SIPO is on a range of characteristics,
combined with structure and build. The species is:

Significantly smaller than Pied Oystercatcher. Is relatively dumpy-looking, on
account of it having relatively short legs and long bill.
For reference, here are two profile shots from Wikimedia Commons:

SOUTH ISLAND PIED OYSTERCATCHER (note short legs and long bill)
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:South_Island_pied_oystercatcher.JPG
PIED OYSTERCATCHER (note long legs and short bill)
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pied_Oystercatcher.jpg

Anyone able to relocate this bird, please report the details and send on any
more photographs as this bird is of great interest to birders locally and
potentially from further afield.

If you think you have found the bird please take careful note of bill length
and leg length. A profile photo should be sufficient to confirm identification
one way or the other.

Regards,

Simon.
