Australia is a market based economy more or less, sellers get to set their price - that's the capitalist market place.

If people don't want to buy at that price point then either sellers' lower their price or we have to assume they are happy with the amount they are selling.

There isn't any utility complaining about it or saying they are making an excessive amount of profit or they could make more profit at a lower price point. That is really no different to me wanting a shiny nice new car which I can't afford. Would it be reasonable for me to argue that the car company that makes my chosen car reduce the price so I can? Of course not (well it would be nice).

There are very few things in Australia that are price controlled by the government. Cost is usually set by the market place. I can't see any reason why people who have a scarce and precious product/service/ resource shouldn't set the price they want - bearing in mind that the price might in part be set to deter people so they are not overwhelmed with visitors.

cheers
storm
