Area: SA

Date: Monday, October 11, 2010

Location: North Para River, St Hallett Winery, Tanunda

Rainbow Bee-eater (Merops ornatus) (200+) Saw first Bee-eaters over the winery
for this spring last week, today a large flock of 200+ were moving along the
river in a northerly direction.

Crested Shrike-tit (Falcunculus frontatus) (2) Pair still hanging in same area
for four weeks now, nest hidden away up there somewhere I presume!

Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus) (1) Seeing a few along the river
corridor in the last few weeks.

Date: Thursday, October 14, 2010

Location: Blockers Rd, Myponga.

Latham's Snipe (Gallinago hardwickii) (1) A good looking bird, quiet dark in
colour. Dissapeared to cover and didn't flush.

There are a series of creeks and swampy areas in the farm land both sides of
the road. The Latham's Snipe was in a large shallow swamp opposite a property
"TerreBella". Further along was one Black-fronted Dotterel. Not a lot of birds
in this area but an interesting variety.
