Not relevant to the present problem, but perhaps of passing interest: my father told me of a pair of Kookas that nested in a hollow dead branch of a gumtree near the house where he grew up (Albert River region, a bit south of Brisbane). Year after year they nested in that same branch. Then one year they chose a new nest site ... and later that year the old nest site branch fell off the tree. Coincidence? Or did they some how know?
