Hi all,

I have just spoken to CLC and applied for an entry permit to the Mt
Winter area and wanted to share some info. My contact at CLC has advised
that the key traditional owner is being consulted next week on-site. All
the applications received so far from birders are being considered
together. Other traditional owners for the Meerenie Loop - Mt Winter
section will also be consulted over the next few days to ascertain their
wishes.

The CLC have stressed to me that decision regarding approval or refusal
of these permits will not be available before Friday 20th August. They
also said that it should not be assumed a permit will be granted.

This implies to me that if birders enter the area prior to the
consultation with traditional owners and without an entry permit, this
will jeopardise the situation for everyone.

Good birding to all,

Richard Fuller
