While my dog wasn't looking today, a raven flew down and nicked off with his precious marrow bone! Quite a hefty haul for a bird.
I'm still having ravens constantly coming to the birdbath with lumps of
bread to soak. I found out where they are getting it - a neighbour
regularly gives her horse a bag of stale bread from the bakery left-overs!
And there was my previous egg-heist story. I used to put the hen eggs down
to do odd jobs on my way back to the house and then they'd just disappear.
I was forever thinking I'd forgotten where I'd put them! After losing an
awful lot of eggs and realising it wasn't just my bad memory at play I left
an egg out in the open and hid in the carport to watch. Didn't take the
bird long at all. They must have been watching me as soon as I left the
chook house!
The only thing that turns out I shouldn't have been blaming on them, but had
for a long time, was mystery golf balls constantly turning up in my
paddocks. I always put it down to ravens until I started catching one of my
neighbours teeing off from the high point of his property! I now collect
them to give to my farrier who plays golf.
Karen.
