As Inger said, corvids are known to cache food. It's possible that the raven
thought the golf ball was an egg and buried it in the ground for later
consumption.

Thieving of white golf balls by Australian corvids is quite common. I've
heard that fluoro- orange and pink balls are taken less readily.
