Overwintering? I have Rufous Fantails in Fig Tree Pocket in Brisbane every winter like clockwork. I assumed they were a regular winter migrant to the area, forced out of the mountains like Rose Robins and Golden Whistlers. Have I just got odd birds? Do they really not appear elsewhere in Brisbane in winter?

Regards, Chris

Hi Greg, Rufous Fantails do on occasion, overwinter in South-east Queensland. I saw at least one at Gold Creek Reservoir last June with Richard Fuller. Cheers - Paul W.
