The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period 
03/14/2010 to 03/21/2010:

Area: SA

Date: 03/12/2010

Location: Thompson's Beach, out from main car park at end of bitumen road.

Greater Sand Plover (Charadrius leschenaultii) (1) Two resting in sandy 
depression within intertidal zone; one in full breeding plumage. Later seen in 
same vicinity feeding with red necked stints and red-capped plovers, 30 metres 
from incoming tidal flow. Photographed.

Fairy Tern (Sterna nereis) (1) Group of 20, plus scattered individuals. 
Recently fledged and immature birds present.

1000+ migratory waders, predominantly bar-tailed godwits, red knots and 
red-necked stints. Many godwits and knots showing good colour, approx. 5-10% in 
full breeding plumage. Tens of great knots (feeding and flying with godwits) 
and greenshanks (widely dispersed), many in breeding plumage. Lower number of 
great knots than seen at this time last year. A few sharp-tailed sandpipers and 
grey plovers. Only one ruddy turnstone and one curlew sandpiper noted.

Location: On the Coorong Nat Pk beach, (1) 6 kms south of 42 Mile Crossing, (2) 
3 kms north of 42 Mile Crossing

Hooded Plover (Charadrius rubricollis) (10) 4 were at site (1) and 6 were at 
site (2).  Those at site (1) were walking at the water's edge; those at site 
(2) were flying approximately 1 to 2 metres above the water and 2 metres from 
the water's edge.

Location: Freeling

Australian Hobby (Falco longipennis) (4) Two adults and two dependent immatures 
have been flying around during the evenings, harrassing all the towns birdlife 
for the past couple of days. Great to watch their speed as they stoop on their 
intended targets!

Location: Central Mount Lofty Ranges

White-winged Chough (Corcorax melanorhamphos) (35+) Seen in 7 family groups 
seen scattered on a drive thru Hahndorf (from River Rd), Echunga, Meadows to 
Kuitpo (via Blackfellows Ck & Meadows rd).
