g'Day all

On 1st March at 17 35 hrs about 15 km north of MonteColina Bore on the Strzelecki Track in north eastern SA 40 + Fork-tailed Swifts were seen hawking south across the sand hills. At 1830 hrs (about 1 hr later) there were 30+ Fork-tailed Swifts flying south east at the Strzelecki Creek crossing located approximately 30 km ne of the earlier sightinhg. Strong SE winds had been blowing for two days and we were at the western edge of a large rain depression. Having previously resided for more than 20 years in this region of SA, the observation was only my third sighting of FTS in north eastern sa. Other sightings were in Feb 1974 at Balcanoona and Feb 1989 at Lake Torrens, both also exceptionally wet years in outback SA
