It's correct that James Bond, the spy, was named after James Bond the birder, 
but I think the reason is a little different than this.  Ian Fleming was a 
birder himself, and he knew James Bond personally.

Maybe more of a birding connection than first thought. I found this in the Misc 
Section under "Things named after Biologists".

There are some strange minds in the world of taxonomy it would
seem, why else would you call an Earwig Labia minor or a clam Venus
mercienaria, let alone a trilobite Han solo.
