Yes - the Biodiversity Convention has rather faded into the background as
compared with the Climate Change issues also recognised at the 1992 UN Rio
conference.
22nd May is the International Day of Biodiversity and should be a key date for action. But I fear we will see little although this year's theme of Biodiversity, Development and Poverty Alleviation could be a focus for work with our regional neighbours (and as Denise Goodfellow recently outlined, indigenous Australians). http://www.cbd.int/idb/ http://www.biodiversity-day.info/ Michael Norris |
