Wed 13 Jan Great Frigatebird Lucinda Beach
First seen on the afternoon of Tuesday 12th January 2010 in the region
of the Lucinda Jetty and ocassionally doing a low slow patrol along the
beach to the south of the jetty. Seen again the next morning doing the
same thing.

Rufous Owl Townsville Bush Garden (end of Thompson St,
Mundingburra)
1 adult located ~ 7:15AM in the western end of the Bush Garden near to
botanic marker #29. The owl has a possum in its talons and was being
harassed by drongos and helmeted friarbirds. Rufous Owls are
occasionally recorded at the Bush Garden (1st recorded report Oct 2005).
This sighting was recorded by TRBOC members (monthly survey of Bush
Garden).

Bush-hen Ross River Bush Gardens
Single bird seen at the western end of the gardens on the island-side of
the "moat", about 50metres from the Ross River.

Sun 10 Jan White-throated Nightjar Reed-beds Road, Cromarty, North
Queensland
One White-throated Nightjar flushed at the vine-forest area at the
southern end of Reed-beds Road. (GDA 19°30'30"S; 147°03'15"; elevation
about 6m ASL) 10 minutes later, the bird flushed again and once landed
on a low horizontzl branch for a minute or so for extended views.

Cockatiel Crocodile Creek Road, Cape Cleveland
Small flock of about 10 Cockateil lifted as we stopped our vehicle along
Crocodile Creek Road at about 9:15am 10/01/2010 only 500m fom the
intersection with Cape Cleveland Road (GDA 19°22'40"S; 147°01'25"E
elevation about 5m ASL). They flew a wide arc and then flew over our
vehicle. Were last seen heading NE towards the coast... Unusual to see
this species only about 5 km from the east coast.
