Published sightings for the week ending 10 Jan 2010.
Thu 7 Jan Buff-banded Rail Racecourse Road, Cluden, Townsville
Standing water on left of bitumen road about 200 metres before the
mangrove creek bridge, just before entering the sewerage treatment works
(restricted area sign). Two birds being bullied by a Masked Lapwing.
Access to this area remains available between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm
despite road building activities. The usual array of wetland species
present also including Wandering and Plumed Whistling Duck,
Black-fronted Dotterel, Black-winged Stilt, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and
Royal Spoonbill plus Egrets.
