Thanks George Interestingly the run of Barbary Dove records at the Brighton Dunes/Jim Willis Reserve (Brighton, Vic) also began in 2003. We've recorded them in half the months since December 2003 but no sign of them elsewhere. We are not aware of anyone feeding them, so maybe that's part of the reason for there being no apparent increase in numbers despite at least one successful fledging of young. I don't know what the criteria are for ticking a bird from a feral species but one that exists because of deliberate feeding by humans is surely not self-sustaining in the wild. Michael Norris |
