Russell created a Facebook group for birding-aus. You can get to it at

(alternatively, just search for birding-aus).
The trouble with groups is that they don't have the same level of
communication or "connectedness" as a personal account. They are OK for
posting general information, but not too good for interactive discussion
unless everyone remembers to check the group's "wall". At least postings
from your Facebook friends automatically appear on your "wall".
Incidentally, Kurtis Lindsay set up another Facebook group, "Birding
Australia Wide". You can get to it at
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=25806288358&ref=ts
Or just search for "Birding Australia Wide".
