Tom,Milvus lineatus is now split from M. migrans and is listed in the Index to Organism Names. Brazil, in "Birds of East Asia" uses M. lineatus - Black-eared Kite, but the split does not appear to have made it to the IOC list yet. My world bird checklist (downloaded from www.wirldbirdnames.org ) does not show it as a separate species and my copy of The Birds of Hong Kong and South China (Viney, Philips & Lam) also shows it as a different sub-species of our own Black Kite.
