Yes - I reckon it is an Arctic Jaeger (slim bill, flashes on upper wing) and I
am so happy that I was personally involved in (crossed fingers) saving it.

Peter told me on Sunday about an odd bird on one of the rock platforms at
Rickett's Point. On Monday about 9am I saw one paddling out from the platform
for about 50m, then trying - and failing - to take off before returning to the
rocks.

I told Rod and Kim (like me they were with their dogs) about it and Rod picked
it up and passed it to me. Kim took pics and ferried me to vets with a great
reputation, the Central Veterinary Hospital, Sandringham (address Abbott St,
entrance in Harston St).

A good week for me with helping this bird, and the great launch of 'Where to
see Birds in Victoria' this evening.
