Thanks for the input Tom, I didn't think of a Sharp-tailed SP as Morcombe's doesn't list them as visiting reef platforms, only wetlands, sewage farms etc. It's been suggested from another site that the second bird is perhaps a Juvenile Red Knot. My thoughts: 1st bird is (on balance of probability) a Sharp Tailed Sandpiper (I have seen these at Long reef before) 2nd bird is a Red Knot? To me, it doesn't look white enough to me to be a Sanderling and size matches vs the other birds as well make me think it's a bit too big. Cheers Tom Wilson |
