At the Beaudesert Racecourse today a group of birders from Ribble Birding Tours (UK) and I saw a Black-tailed Native-hen. It was on a small island in the lake adjacent to the racecourse. Beaudesert is south west of Brisbane and about 40km inland from the Gold Coast. Sightings of them in the area are extremely rare. There is also a Freckled Duck there which has been hanging around of and on for months.
