You can look at sample pages of "Shorebirds of Australia" at
http://www.publish.csiro.au/samples/Shorebirds_OnlineSample.pdf, if that's the
one you mean. I haven't seen "Shorebirds, an Identification Guide", but I
believe it has illustrations of all the world's shorebirds, whereas "Shorebirds
of Australia" has photos of Australian ones. In most cases there are at least
photos of a breeding and a non breeding bird, and a bird in flight. Some also
show a juvenile, a couple have plumage closeups.

Hi all
I was wondering if there is a field guide reference book for Gulls &
Terns similar to the soft cover Onley & Schofield "Albatrosses,
Petrels & Shearwaters"?
Also how does "Shorebirds ,an Identification Guide" by Hayman,
Marchant and Prater compare with the recent Aussie shorebird book?
Sorry can't remember the name of that one either!
Cheers
