Thanks, Bill. Andrew Isles has none in stock. The prices at Amazon are odd:
there are plenty of used copies (hardback) for less than $10, but new ones
start from over $100. One copy was $200. Can anyone explain the price
differences? I can't find any evidence that there's more than one edition,
just hardback or paperback. I found one comment that the illustrations in the
paperback edition are poor compared to the hardback.

For those interested in a good field guide for waders, then I would
recommend, "Shorebirds ,an Identification Guide" by Hayman, Marchant and
Prater. It is published by Houghton Mifflin Company in Boston USA. It has all
the waders in the world, about the size of Slater without all the numerous
mistakes that are in all the Australian field guides. All your comments
about the Hudwit are illustrated well in this guide Peter. I bought mine a
few years ago through Andrew Isles for about AUD50 I think. All field guides
should be as good as this landmark one.
Cheers,
Bill
