Hi Evan,Last week between West Wyalong and Lake Cargelligo, Central NSW, - about 2.000 Cockatiel, rising in massed flights then settling in separate mobs in paddock to feed (on what??), up/down, up/down they went. Nomadic? Migratory?? Closer to Lake C. 5 Ground Cuckoo-shrike, possibly the same seen t'other side of Lake C. on the Euabalong Road the next 3 days, as Nevil Lazarus and I were returning from Round Hill/Nombinnie N.R. (Heard and saw Southern Scrub-robins there, Chestnut Quail-thrush, and a few of the normal suspects. Spring/summer is of course the time to go. Some folk checking out the main East-West railway line talked of seeing Malleefowl previously in the area). On return trip, twixt Condobolin and Parkes (Bogan Gate area) a flock of 12-15 Major Mitchell's - long way East?! Cheers Peter Madvig |
