Have been discussing with a mate whether it is possible to get a small,
light and robust, good quality spotting scope, probably about 20 or 25x,
that is easily carried in a back pack. When travelling overseas a
regular scope and associated tripod might only be used occasionally and
we assume is a nuisance to carry everywhere. For occasional use a small
scope could be rested on or braced against a support such as a tree or
on the back pack on the bonnet of a car etc. We thought that maybe a
small scope that can easily be carried in a back pack and used as
described may be more useful and travel friendly than a regular sized
scope and tripod.

Has anyone out there done this before and can anyone recommend a
suitable better quality scope that might suit this purpose?
