I managed to get out there Sunday morning (5 April), and the bird was
present with 13 PGPs. I
arrived on
the rock platform at 6 a.m. (Eastern Standard Time) and found the bird
pretty quickly. I was able to get quite close without flushing
anything. The waders present seemed quite
confiding, only appearing to be nervous when there were people on the
beach with dogs running around. I watched and made notes until 7 a.m.
when most of the waders flew further south on the rock platform, though
the Double-banded Plovers and Sooty Oystercatchers stayed put. I think
a Kestrel over the dunes may have put them up, as I hadn't moved for a
while.
I think high tide was at about 5:37 that morning, so
the tide was up while I was there. No other birders
turned up.
I would also like to say thanks and good effort to TunPin Ong for
picking out this bird so long ago.
