I saw an Oriental Cuckoo today at Walsh Creek on the road to Winfield
north of Bundaberg, Qld. It was feeding in Gum-topped Box trees and
nearby along the creek I saw 4 Shining Bronze Cuckoos and heard one
Brush Cuckoo. According to Eric Zillmann and Carl Moller, both local
expert birders, Oriental Cuckoos are regular visitors to this region
at this time of year.
Of note as well, there were two Square-tailed Kites seen in the area
circling above the creek and adjacent forest. Near Winfield township I
saw three Brolgas.
