Thank you to everyone who has replied. I'm new to the subscription list and
I'm very impressed with just how friendly everyone is.
Paul,
I was planning to be at Werribee on the 18th and 19th of March, which is a
Wednesday and Thursday. If yourself or anyone else is free on one of those
days, I'ld certainly appreciate a walk around with someone who knows the
place.
Regards,
Mark

I expedited the process in 2007 by being prepared to go to the Melb Water
offices in Brooklyn/Altona, but this would (I think) only be an option a
weekday and during their opening hours. I sussed this all out mostly by
phone before hand (and then through a wild goose chase the preceding
afternoon when I was sent to the offices near the city on the understanding
I could get a permit there, then being told that this was not true) and
having to go to Brooklyn the day I intended to visit. I was there as the
office opened (about 9:30 I think) so had my permit and was able to spend a
good part of a day at WTP.
First para of my 2007 report in the archives covers my permit acquiring
adventures...http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/archives/html/birding-aus/2
007-04/msg00054.html.
Detailed recollections could now be a bit scratchy....
Cheers
