What a terrible attitude!

Just because you want to see a bird, doesn't give you the right to trespass
on someone else's property, nor to berate another person who has had the
fortune to see it. Sure, it might be disappointing that Chris has had the
opportunity to see this bird and you have not (and maybe the manner in which he
reported it raised the possibility of others being upset, but without knowing
the circumstances of Chris' sightings, you do not know what may be put in
jeopardy by him divulging the location.

If the attitude of some is "twitch at all costs, and hang the rest of
you", then I'm glad Chris did not specify where he saw the bird!

He has said that he will give more details if and when he is able, but if this
is the response he gets, then I wouldn't blame him for just keeping any
information entirely to himself next time.

Come on, let's have some responsible birding!

only one allowed to see it, please don’t ask me where I saw it”. It’s
kind of upsetting.

military area but access to the site is for surveys only at this stage &
carry strict regulations. No viewing areas from public roads exist. As one who
has gained the trust of the folk who run it, I am not willing to compromise
this. At this stage no access will be allowed during the working week. If there
is the possibility of getting in later, I will let everyone know when & if I
get the go ahead. I don’t get pleasure from gripping off others & would
love everyone who wants to see this bird have a chance at it. It is a wader tho
& at this time of year anything could happen.

why give them that temptation?
