Bree,Yes juv Boobooks make a trilling call. We have 2 juv near house at present (parents have been around for many months) and they regularly make the trilling call, more usually at dawn and dusk. The Lewin's H/E and Noisy Miners harrass them regularly, but soon tire when the juv don't react. They do have a very exaggerated head sideways head movement when being observed.
