Just about anyone who has seen a Golden-shouldered Parrot saw it on Artemis, the property of Sue and Tom Shephard on Cape York Peninsula. Many of them will have been taken out by Sue, or stayed on the property. The reason the parrots can be seen there is at least partly because of the way the Shephard's manage their land. In 2007 the Shephards won the Queensland Landcare award for looking after the parrot and its habitat so have progressed to the National Awards in 2008. We thought birdwatchers might be able to show their appreciation for the Shephards by voting for them in the people's choice National Landcare Awards in the Nature Conservation category. Do also pass this message on to anyone who you think may be interested?
