First Koel (female) at Levenstrath, near Grafton NSW on 5/9/08 - First
Channel Bill Cuckoo was at 8.35am on 23/9/08. Three Pheasant Coucal calling
including one from about 15 metres from bedroom.

Just on daylight until about 7/30am from paper bark in house yard and
response from two other birds further away. It's been at it now for about a
week. It may be the same bird that last year was short cutting across the
patio to get to the fish pond to bath. In previous years have nested near
house. Usually only locate the empty nest, although one year found nest with
two nestlings. On Friday19/908 collared sparrow hawk killed Little
Wattlebird in yard but abandoned prey when I accidently disturbed it. Seen
on several occasions perched concealed in garden. There may be better places
than the North Coast but this sure beats suburbia.
