Graham,

While it is best to use professional scanning facility for the job, it is
most likely a costly exercise. Depends on what you want to do with the scans
besides keeping it for your own collection or viewing as the years go on.
 

I have used my 100mm macro lens on an 8 megapixel Canon 30D mounted on a
tripod with a remote release and had good results. I can talk to you about
it offline if you want.
