Hi Jim

I saw a large flock of Cranes not far from Bromfield a couple of weeks ago. We were driving between Atherton and Malanda, along the Upper Barron Road, at around sunset, and about 100 cranes flew over towards their roost. From the 20 or 30 photos I took I've only found Sarus Crane, but Brolga have been reported with these flocks, so check for the diagnostic wing markings.

Cheers

Russell

Hi birders,

I will be spending a couple of days in Cairns next month, and would like to catch up with this species. My previous visits to the area have always been out of season.

I know they breed and roost at Bromfield crater, but do they visit Mareeba, or is there anywhere closer to Cairns where I could find them?

Thanks in advance

Jim O'Shea
