G'day,I got the impression in Germany that the house sparrow was doing very nicely. I had never been there at the end of winter for any length of time before but found them to be everywhere I had recorded them before. While I keep no abundance records my feeling was that they were as numerous as always (over the last 14 years) in most places and more common in one, Immenhofen in Bavaria.
