Nikolas,
Two good sites near Lithgow: The Lithgow sewage ponds always have a
few Blue-billed Ducks these days, in addition to Pink-ears,
Shovelers, etc. Access isn't allowed into the actual site but you can
view from the road into the rubbish tip off Geordie Street.
Lake Wallace at Wallerawang is a surefire site for Musk Ducks and all
3 species of grebe, with the chance of crakes if the water level is
right.
Cheers,
Carol

Birding-aus,
I haven't heard any news from the Hawkesbury Marsh recently. Water
levels? Any updates on waterbird numbers? Species? Any Australian
Shelduck, Freckled Duck, Bluebill around? Other 'goodies' (e.g.
rails or bitterns)?
Are there other good areas for waterbirds that we can conveniently
include into a three-day Sydney-Blue Mountains-Capertee
Valley-Sydney trip?
Cheers,
Nikolas
