A request for those who have knowledge of locations within the Millewa
forest on the Murray River east of Mathoura and north east of Echuca.
I have been documenting egret breeding locations for the Gunbower and
Barmah forest areas of Victoria and wish to also include any breeding
locations of historic egret colonies in these Victorian and NSW areas.
Various naturalists visited these (flooded) areas in the past and
Mattingley on a 1907 trip to the Millewa forests (see ref below) went to a
colony off the Edwards River at a place called Reedy Nook in the vicinity
of St Helena.
I cannot find where these two sites are and am keen to hear people's
thoughts.
Please advise me directly and any thoughts most welcome.
cheers, Martin
