Google Earth Placemarks

Hi everyone

I noticed a recent message that made it through to the list, although it had a KMZ (Google Earth Placemark) attachment. Normally we don't permit attachments on Birding-Aus, but I think this is one case where it is a good idea to send one.

So if any of you use Google Earth, or other geo-tagging tools, then please feel free to include this data in messages, especially for trip reports covering places that might not be well-known. It's a great way to show people EXACTLY where you made a sighting.

I'd be careful about this sort of information where there may be species nesting or vulnerable to disturbance - please DON'T advertise locations that might be at risk from collectors or trappers. Otherwise, what a great way of showing people where to find birds!
