The gape is a key feature if you can see it clearly - the other features (being relative, like size) you mention work best if you have two birds to compare. 2008/5/21 Roger Giller <>: > Peter, > My field guide, Simpson and Day 7th edition, makes no mention of the gape > as a distinguishing feature.
