Hi Max,
Carmel Lagoon is on the Bird Route No 3 for the "Bird Route of Baradine" a beaut pamphlet that can be obtained from the Coonabarabran Visitors Information Centre. Carmel Lagoon is about 20 km west of Baradine on the Coonamble Road, turn up Carmel Lane (there is a Bird Route Sign at the beginning of the lane), continue up about 8 km and then turn right and follow a road across to a homestead and near the homestead is the Lagoon easil;y seen from the road. White-necked Herons and Little Pied Cormorants were nesting there in March 2008 and in Oct 2006 there were some Painted Snipe there!

Have a great time and let us know what you saw!
