Visited Bushell's this morning from about 745 to 915, walking the
causeway from the Blacktown Rd side and back. Duck numbers were very
low, with a handful of Blacks, Woods and a couple of Grey Teal, plus a
lone Musk Duck, and over 30 Black Swans. 8 + Great Crested Grebe were
present, most in non-breeding plumage. Also good numbers of Darter
(75+), outnumbering Black, L Black and L Pied Cormorants, 6 Royal
Spoonbill, a few Intermediate and Large Egrets, 3 Black-fronted
Dotterel, 3 x Whistling Kite, a subadult White-bellied Sea Eagle. Little
Grassbird, Golden-headed Cisticola and Aust Reed Warbler also seen, the
latter very conspicuous despite their near silence post breeding season.
There was also a pair of Azure Kingfishers present in the willows along
the causeway.
