Dear Birding-aussers, Ian May recently drew attention to Birding-aussers to the proposal by a Japanese company to build a large LNG plant on the Maret Islands, off the Kimberley coastline. A story about the potential impacts of the mining boom, including the proposed Maret Is LNG plant, on the natural environment (and aboriginal communities) of the Kimberleys was aired on the 7.30 Report on ABC TV last night. Those of you who missed the story and would like to see it can find it on the 7.30 Report website http://www.abc.net.au/7.30 and then by clicking on the "Kimberley Threatened by Mining Boom" tab.
